Time

“If time in culture is a straight line into the future on a slight incline, time in nature is a lasagne and every single ingredient is now.”

— Sean Roy Parker

Sean, writing in this issue, describes turning to fermentation as a form of timekeeping. Theresa Hattinger repurposes functional exhortations to slow down and reactivates them, creating an invitation to carry the instruction with you and let it unfold for a lasting effect. Daniel Devlin and Travis LeRoy Southworth confront time slipping away, mortality looming large, whilst Five Years and MOMAFAD approach time institutionally — neither fearing death, but perhaps, slightly, the chokehold of institutional inertia. A third of our lives are spent asleep. Shimmer, who here present Time Spiral, suggest it’s best experienced whilst unconscious. This issue also features regular contributors Alistair Gentry, Tash Kahn and Cathy Rose.
